Wir laden die Berliner:innen ein, Teil einer globalen Unterhaltung zu werden, um die Möglichkeiten eines internationalen Gesellschaftsvertrages auszuloten, auch vor dem Hintergrund aktueller Konflikte.
Stefan Stern und Lydia Ziemke kreieren ein Performatives Labor in Berlin zusammen mit der internationalen Kompanie THE SUN SETS EIGHT TIMES A DAY, das die Idee eines globalen Gesellschafts-vertrages zum Ausgang nimmt. Dazu werden aktuelle Handlungs-Alternativen entwickelt, die die Ideen und Perspektiven der Künstler:innen aus acht Ländern miteinbeziehen: In einer begehbaren Installation können die Beiträge der acht Künstler:innen dazu entdeckt werden. Gespeist werden die Beiträge aus dem Iran und der Ukraine, aber auch aus dem Libanon und Indien aus den aktuellen massiven gesellschaftlichen Umbrüchen und existentiellen Gewalterfahrungen. So wird es aus der Ukraine die künstlerische Verarbeitung eines Kriegstagebuches geben.
Eine Lecture-Performance umspannt außerdem das Verhältnis von Mensch zu Staat sowie die bisherige Gestaltung von gesellschaftlichen Verträgen im Ganzen, begleitet von den Live-Zeichnungen von Afra Nobahar.

We invite Berliners to become part of a global conversation to explore the possibilities of an international social contract, also against the background of current conflicts.
Stefan Stern and Lydia Ziemke are creating a Performative Laboratory in Berlin together with the international company THE SUN SETS EIGHT TIMES A DAY, which takes the idea of a global social contract as its starting point. To this end, current alternatives for action will be developed, incorporating the ideas and perspectives of artists from eight countries: The contributions of the eight artists can be discovered in a walk-in installation. The contributions from Iran and Ukraine, but also from Lebanon and India, are fed by the current massive social upheavals and existential experiences of violence. From the Ukraine, for example, there will be an artistic processing of a war diary.
A lecture-performance will also cover the relationship between people and the state as well as the shaping of social contracts as a whole, accompanied by live drawings by Afra Nobahar.
THE SUN SETS EIGHT TIMES A DAY - 2021 & 2022
In 2022 there will be analogue world premieres in all eight countries that are digitally connected. In this case, the Berlin Lab connects with the Delhi Lab and plays impulses back and forth.
The labs take as their starting point the material that emerged in July 2021 in the jointly designed digital garden out of the motivation to negotiate aspects of a new social contract on a global scale. At that time, the focus was on making the eightfold dialogue between the artist:s tangible for a global audience. The second phase of the project is about involving the audiences in the eight countries in this global conversation. In the process, the artists will each develop different prototypes for performance formats that can be used in the future by others to exchange across distances.
