Das transnationale Team hat diese begehbare Installation, die sich aus sechs simultanen Filmen zusammensetzt, für eine ehrlichere Auseinandersetzung mit dem Asylrecht in ihrer gemeinsamen deutschen Gesellschaft kreiert.
Im Zentrum stehen nicht die Fluchtgeschichten, sondern die großen Handlungsspielräume der Justizexpert:innen: dabei hinterfragt eine Strafrichterin nach ihrem Wechsel ins Asylrecht sowohl die Beurteilung von Krisenregionen als auch Verstrickungen von Politik und Justiz.
In Episode 1 kommt eine berühmte Richterin kurz vor dem Ruhestand durch die Verstrickung von beruflichen und privaten Interessen in eine fast aussichtslose Situation: seit 2015 ist sie im Asylrecht tätig und erfährt dort verstärkt die feinen, aber lebenswichtigen Unterschiede, die die Auslegung der Gesetze bewirken kann. Als ihr Sohn vermutlich im Herkunftsland eines Klägers (Afghanistan) entführt wird, ist sie auf die Hilfe von Menschen aus ebendieser Region angewiesen. Gleichzeitig soll sie über verschiedene Fälle und Abschiebungen entscheiden, die diese Menschen einer lebensbedrohlichen Situation aussetzen würden. Parallel wird die Richterin mit ihrer eigenen Vergangenheit in der DDR konfrontiert, wo sie in einer ähnlichen Situation dem richterlichen Urteil anderer ausgeliefert war, bevor sie selbst geflohen ist.

A transnational team created this walk-through installation, which is made up of six simultaneous films, for a more honest examination of asylum law in their shared German society. The focus is not on the stories of refugees, but on the wide scope of action of the justice experts: a criminal judge questions both the assessment of crisis regions and the entanglements of politics and justice after her move to asylum law. In episode 1, a famous judge on the verge of retirement finds herself in an almost hopeless situation due to the entanglement of professional and private interests: since 2015, she has been working in asylum law, where she increasingly experiences the subtle but vital differences that the interpretation of the law can cause. When her son is presumably abducted in a claimant's country of origin (Afghanistan), she has to rely on the help of people from this very region. At the same time, she is to decide on various cases and deportations that would expose these people to a life-threatening situation. In parallel, the judge is confronted with her own past in the GDR, where she was at the mercy of the judicial judgement of others in a similar situation before she herself fled.
