Das Kaleni Kollectiv stellt die Frage nach der Zukunft der Arbeit und eröffnet einen Raum für eigenständige Perspektiven zwischen Namibia und Deutschland. Die Künstler*innen aus Windhoek und Berlin zeigen aktuelle Performances, Choreografien, Installationen und Filme. Ökologische und soziale Ausbeutung, wie auch das Wissen um die Endlichkeit des gängigen Arbeits- und Beschäftigungsmodells machen die Suche nach anderen Arbeits- und Lebensformen zu einer dringenden globalen Angelegenheit. Während in Europa die Angst umgeht vor Digitalisierung, technologischer Innovation und dem Verlust von Arbeit, werden auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent längst Modelle erprobt, die andere Formen von Einkommen und Beschäftigung entwickeln.

OWELA, das ist ein Spiel, das in Namibia in den Pausen, vor der Arbeit, nach der Arbeit gespielt wird. Das Kaleni Kollectiv lädt ein zum Spiel um unsere Zukunft.

Eine Produktion des Kaleni Kollectivs in Ko-Produktion mit den Ruhrfestspielen Recklinghausen, gefördert im Fonds TURN der Kulturstiftung des Bundes, in Kooperation mit dem Goethe Institut Namibia, dem National Arts Council Namibia, der Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung und dem National Theater Namibia NTN.

Kaleni Kollectiv opens the discourse on the future of work and creates a space for independent perspectives between Germany and Namibia. Artists from Windhoek and Berlin will showcase performances, choreographies and installations. Economic and social exploitation as well as the knowledge that current forms of work and employment are coming to an end make the search for alternative work - and life - models a global issue. With the knowledge of the complex and violent colonial historical background, eight artists go in search of a collective utopia.
